Introduction: A Moment of Grief in the Muslim World
I am writing this with immense grief and a heavy heart. At first, I could not believe the news, but when the government of Iran officially confirmed the martyrdom of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, I accepted this painful reality, though only half heartedly.
Who Was Ayatollah Ali Khamenei? Iran’s Supreme Leader Since 1989
Ayatollah Khamenei had been Iran's Supreme Leader since 1989, following the passing of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. His rule lasted over three decades and was defined by firm ideological positions, the internal suppression of dissent, and the expansion of Iran's influence through allied groups and the Axis of Resistance. He was not just a leader of Iran, but a symbol of defiance against Western hegemony. For thirty years, he built a network that stood as a wall against intervention. His departure leaves a vacuum that the enemies of the Muslim world are already trying to exploit.
Iran Declares 40 Days of Mourning as Thousands Gather in Tehran
This is not merely a death. It is clearly a martyrdom. Iran has declared 40 days of national mourning, and thousands of people have gathered in Tehran and other cities to pay their respects, chanting in solidarity and sorrow, but some crowds are celebrating the death and hoping for regime change.
Protests in Pakistan After US Embassy Security Violence
In Pakistan, another American aggression took place. At the United States Embassy, Karachi and the United States Consulate General, Lahore, people protested against the aggression of America. In return, security at the embassies and consulates ordered shoot on sight. They shot a lot of citizens, which is not aggression but fully carnage, which should be stopped, and the government should take action against this humiliation.
A Crisis of Sovereignty and Government Responsibility
This is a moment of deep shame for us. When our own people are killed on our own streets for standing up for what is right, it shows how weak we have become. It is heartbreaking to see that the lives of common Pakistanis have no value compared to the interests of powerful foreign countries. Our government should be protecting its citizens. Humble submission to the government to solve this humiliation.
OIC Silence and the Question of Muslim Leadership
It is very sad to see that while the common people are crying and protesting on the streets, the big leaders of the Muslim world are sitting silent. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and other powerful Muslim countries only give statements on paper, but they never take real steps to protect us. If we do not stand up for each other today, then tomorrow no one will come to help us. We are acting like strangers to each other when we should be acting like one family. This silence from our leaders is a green light for more attacks and more pain for the Ummah.
Global Media Reaction and Iran’s Political Future
As noted in The New York Times Briefing titled Killing Iran's Leader dated March 1, 2026, the operation's background suggests this could plunge Iran into further turmoil, especially after recent protests where thousands were killed by state forces.
Where Is the Muslim Ummah Today? A Call for Unity
But the main question burning in my mind and in the hearts of many Muslims worldwide is this. Where is the Muslim world right now? What are our leaders and nations doing? Why is there no strong, unified action against the aggressors responsible for this act? If the Muslim Ummah remains silent in the face of such aggression by the United States and Israel, the day is not far when those same powers may threaten more Muslim nations.
An Urgent Appeal to Muslim Countries for Collective Action
This is an urgent call to the Muslim Ummah. Countries across the Muslim world such as Morocco, Somalia, Tunisia, Mauritania, Maldives, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq must raise their voices. They should organize protests, issue strong condemnations, support Iran's right to self defense, and stand together against this violation of sovereignty and sacred leadership. Silence in the Muslim nation is the clear message of more aggression, more carnage, more bloodshed from global superpowers. We should unite because a famous maxim is United we stand, divided we fall. It expresses all my thoughts in a nutshell. The Ummah must awaken and respond with unity, dignity, and resolve. May Allah grant Ayatollah Khamenei the highest ranks in Jannah and protect the Muslim world from further harm.
